Someone with a trendy stubble has turned up in an extraordinary number of the photos coming out of Qana, posed in various manners and dressed in a variety of ways at different times, all oddly theatrical. It would be very interesting to know who he is and whom he works for. Does anybody recognize him?

1. Rick Ballard:Whoever he is, he was on the same propaganda team in 1996 in the same place. CAUTION: Very gory photos compiled by Hezzie propagandists.
Jul 31, 2006 - 12:04 pm 2. tim maguire:Is this a joke that I’m not Hollywood enough to get or is that really not Steven Spielberg? Cause it sure looks like him.
Jul 31, 2006 - 12:12 pm 3. cathyf:Rick, do you mean the guy holding the doll covered in ketchup? I don’t think we can see enough face to really conclude that they are the same guy — especially since the pictures are 10 years apart. As Tim points out, the guy looks like hundreds of other guys, including Steven Spielberg.

Jul 31, 2006 - 12:48 pm 5. Rick Ballard:Cathy,
Come now. I’m using precisely the same professional standards applied by AP, AFP, Reuters, the NYT and the WaPo.
It’s the same guy – and you can’t prove it’s not.
Standards are standards and should be applied with uniformity.
Jul 31, 2006 - 1:02 pm 6. chrees:My money’s on Greg Packer.
Jul 31, 2006 - 1:09 pm 7. Fausta:Interestingly, the guy in the white t-shirt that Green Helmet was helping, managed to turn out not only on the three newpapers EU referendum mentions, but also at France2 news last evening. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to save the streaming video but posted on it today (with apologies for the shameless self-promotion).
White T-Shirt’s name appears to be Khalil Bourji, a 54-year-old neighbor, who claims that
1. his entire family was taking shelter in the building next door, thinking that it was safer, and they all died there
2. he’s not with Hezbollah, but when he showed the France2 reporters the interior of the house there were at least 6 large photos of Nazrallah on display, and his daughter’s school certificate from Hezbbollah school.
Curiously, The Telegraph article, titled
The children went to sleep believing they were safe. And then Israel targeted them as terrorists, didn’t mention that White T-shirt’s family all died.
No mention anywhere of the fact that the IDF has noted that the building collapsed seven hours after the bombing
Jul 31, 2006 - 1:24 pm 8. PJ:I am at work, but I assume the “news” media are wholly ignoring this pathetic, monstrous propaganda campaign.
They would be a laughingstock if they weren’t plain evil.
They’re on the other side.

Jul 31, 2006 - 2:03 pm 10. Barry Dauphin:Is it Hans Blix?
Jul 31, 2006 - 3:21 pm 11. FredRum:Hmmm, looks vaguely like Jean Reno…
Jul 31, 2006 - 5:33 pm 12. PeterUK:A Google of Labanes Actors comes up with this, interesting? Same man a few years younger?
Jul 31, 2006 - 5:46 pm 13. PeterUK:Sorry Lebanese.
Jul 31, 2006 - 5:48 pm 14. Jamison1:Check out Hot Air’s article.
Jul 31, 2006 - 7:25 pm 15. onecent:Central casting?
The guy looks so posed and unnatural.
NYT’s payroll?
My guess on this whole sorry mess is that Israel was set up. We are dealing with rabid thug terrorists, folks, that would set this up to discredit Israel and force a ceasefire.
Jul 31, 2006 - 7:40 pm 16. PeterUK:Roger,
Jul 31, 2006 - 7:55 pm 17. Ray:Why don’t you offer Kevin Frayer an interview with PajMed,he has worked with the guy enough,he probably knows his name, bound to be some fascinating insights.
It is Castro. Castro has been afraid of being overthrown and recently disappeared from the Cuban scene claiming to be ill. Many boats are leaving Miami with those that plan on regaining property and helping Cuba become a democratic government.
Crowds are beginning to form on the streets and it is reported that former thugs of the Castro regime are being attacked by protestors.
Jul 31, 2006 - 8:09 pm 18. cathyf:Have you noticed how conspicuous this guy is in every picture? It’s like in a kid’s TV show where the cartoon character is composited into the live-action scenes in the miracle of hollywood. Notice how in every picture he’s the vivid vibrant one while everything else in the picture is dull and lifeless.
That’s one argument for him being an actor — he really hogs the spotlight, even when he’s in the background. We may need the manolo to come give us a fashion analysis…

Jul 31, 2006 - 8:14 pm 19. Barry Dauphin:Or maybe he’s Zelig.
Jul 31, 2006 - 8:37 pm 20. Rick Ballard:If Stephen King reads this blog he just got a very fresh idea. I don’t have a bit of a problem thinking of Hezbollah as baby body snatchers but to have one guy assigned to the task for 10 years – that’s definitely in the horror genre.
Jul 31, 2006 - 8:48 pm 21. Roger:Barry Dauphin, you have made my day.
Jul 31, 2006 - 9:14 pm 22. Buddy Larsen:Ditto Zelig–great gallows laff!
Jul 31, 2006 - 9:53 pm 23. Jamie Irons:I’m petty sure that’s Jack Klugman, in his Felix and Oscar salad days, back in the seventies…
Photoshop is a remarkable tool.

Aug 1, 2006 - 8:51 am 25. Ray:There is a resemblance to Mel Gibson.
Aug 1, 2006 - 8:31 pm 26. michael:Naim Raqa perhaps, the ‘chief of the Red cross’ in a neighboring town.
