In a brilliant article in today’s JPost, Caroline Glick reminds an oblivious world that the Palestinian State everyone is clamoring for already exists. It started when Israel pulled out of Gaza. And no sane person would want to live there.

Jan 30, 2007 - 12:58 pm 2. Lem:A Palestinian suicide bomber set himself off in Israel with the express purpose of getting Israel to retaliate and so cause the warring Palestinian factions to stop killing each other and start killing Israelis once again.
Never mind that an Israeli retaliation would kill many Palestinians, perhaps members of his own family.
Never mind that the factions are killing each other precisely because their suicide bombings have shut off the money tap from abroad.
Ya basta! Apparently the wall is not high enough.
Jan 30, 2007 - 2:02 pm 3. LarryD:I really hate to talk like this, but let the Palestinian Civil War continue until the Palestinians want peace more than the destruction of Israel. I can see no cure for their deep seated hatred except death, and since they’re willing to do it to themselves, let it be.

It’s a Western Euro/North American afflication. A remnant of the Cold War, Soviet’s disaster in 1967, and the Soviet’s Anti-Zionist/Anti-American propaganda campaigns which dictated the beliefs of far-left in the West, and the liberal discourse it effected.
It’s declining due to 9/11, the election of Hamas, and the internet. The PLO still had some revolutionary left cred, now gone.
Jan 30, 2007 - 6:23 pm 6. Buddy Larsen:Every single lefty project I can think of is either a miserable failure, or exists as a parasite on the host it hates.
Jan 31, 2007 - 9:18 am 7. AlanC:Buddy, maybe its because I live in Mass. and we have such a large supply, but, I know a lot of lefties who are neither failures nor parasites.
The level of cognitive dissonance which they live with is truly awe inspiring however. The ability seems to be based on the fact that they are unable to include the larger world with their own private corner of it. It seems like they have parallel universes.
One, is the world where America is terrible. The one where LLLs proclaim their compassion for all the little people but do nothing for them. Where there activities are all aimed at making themselves feel good.
The other world, is the real world where they work and interact with people on a daily basis. I have heard them complain bitterly about taxes and lazy workers (restaraunt owner) that don’t learn anything in school. Then, when the conversatoin turns general, they cheer for the Demos and increased welfare and multi-culti curriculums.
They never notice their own contradictions. I actually had a relative tell me that the difference between Left and Right was that the Left is motivated by feelings & the right by facts. AND HE WAS LAUDING THE LEFT!!!!!! However, in his daily business (VP of a real estate company) he is as fact driven and hard nosed as any capitalist you could imagine.
