And the Oscar for the most racist film of the year goes to…

“Tom & Jerry is a Jewish Conspiracy”

What’s particularly bizarre here is that Tom & Jerry is ascribed to Walt Disney who has himself been accused of anti-Semitism. Looking a the bland, accepting faces of the students in the room gives me the Willies. I wonder what some of our more “peacenik” Democratic candidates would make of this. What would they say?

Interesting comments here. (via Glenn)

I certainly heard the Arabic word for Jew being thrown around a lot.

Was wondering if someone was just putting phoney subtitles to the presentation. Seemed like that when he said something about the mouse “kicking the cat’s ass” you’d have heard a bit of laughter. Hell, in an American university someone would have.

Fox’s recent special on radical Islam reported an au courant theory that “Pepsi” (the soft drink), stands for “Pay Each Penny to Save Israel”.

Same reverential respect on every face as this man’s academic colleague Majid Shah-Hoseini informs his audience, apparently of Revolutionary Guards and clerics, that Hollywood, since the 1950’s, has created monster movies for the express purpose of inciting Islamophopia:

Don’t forget “Plankton” on Spongebob–an obvious attempt to legitimize Achmadinejad.

well, i meant ‘de’ legitimize, but as a dumb joke maybe it works as well either way.

promoguy, this is Farsi (Persian), not Arabic. This video was sent to me by several people, including an Iranian filmmaker who is naturally a native Farsi speaker – so we can assume the subtitles are accurate.

Buddy,

Heh… Great in-depth analysis.. Drink Coke!

Feb 25, 2007 - 5:30 pm 9. promoguy:

Roger, you’re right and I should have known better on the Farsi part. Well, I guess us Jews are at it again. I think that I am being punished on this being not a rich Jew. Maybe because first wife was Catholic and second and current love of my life is Episcopalian.

And now I’m going to be hated for posting this during the Oscars.

They were probably just confused… trying to figure out how a cat could possibly own a donkey, much less why a mouse would want kick it.

I do not make light, evil personified I see. But, I mean really, how desperate can one be, when you are reduced to deconstructing frigging cartoons to advance your GD point. The world is truly absurd at times. We are slowly losing this damn war, due to most folks hearing only one side of the story.

“… ascribed to Walt Disney” ??

Shows you the quality of research these people put into concocting their swill. Tom & Jerry was the work of Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera when they were working for MGM’s animation studio, before they went on to create The Flintstones, Yogi Bear, etc. Disney had nothing to do with it.

Even his basic premise is wrong. Jews were compared to rats and not mice:

From the notorious Nazi film Der ewige Jude (”The Eternal Jew”):

“Wherever rats appear they bring ruin, by destroying mankind’s goods and foodstuffs. In this way, they (the rats) spread disease, plague, leprosy, typhoid fever, cholera, dysentery, and so on. They are cunning, cowardly, and cruel, and are found mostly in large packs. Among the animals, they represent the rudiment of an insidious and underground destruction – just like the Jews among human beings.”

I did read some o fthe comments. Intteresting. Of course someone just had to make the comparison to evangelicals. I can honestly say that evangelicals do not think that Tom and Jerry is a conspiracy of any sort. Just mean little cartoons.

Oh, Luther… before Radical Islamic Militarisms insanities became popular, there was the socialist/communist variety. Deconstructing Disney (Yes, I know Tom & Jerry aren’t Disney; part of what I’m doing is pointing out the laziness of thought here) was a chic thing for many years now.

http://www.amazon.com/How-Read-Donald-Duck-Imperialist/dp/0884770230

“How to Read Donald Duck: Imperialist Ideology in the Disney Comic”. Yes, it’s a real book; it was widely published throughout Latin America, and it’s just a shining example of how people can misconstrue someone else’s culture. And that’s the mildest criticism I can make of it. Anyway, damning Disney as propoganda for American ideology is nothing new; in fact, it’s so boringly worn out already.

This guy in the video just isn’t original.
