Mrs. Obama is apparently out on the hustings giving forth with a fair amount of political bombast like “I don’t want my girls to live in a country based on fear.”
What?
I haven’t noticed that I’m living in a country based on fear. Too much trafffic maybe, but fear?
Then there’s this: At another stop, in Atlantic, Michelle said she travels with her husband in part “to model what it means to have family values,” adding “if you can’t run your own house, you can’t run the White House.” She didn’t elaborate, but it could be interpreted as a swipe at the Clintons.
Oh, get over yourself, Mrs. Obama. [People who brag about their families in public are usually the ones who end up in divorce court two years later.-ed. Word.]
More of this kind of wising-off and the Democrats can kiss the Clinton-Obama ticket goodbye.

1. Webutante:I think we have a possible story here for Drudge:
A new tropical storm named Michelle has formed in the Atlantic and may be heading towards the east coast. Winds are gusting up to 75mph while computer models indicate conflicting scenarios. One shows Michelle dissipating into nothing more than a tropical depression and petering out at sea. Another more remote model predicts Michelle picking up momentum to full hurricane force and slamming well-heeled neighborhoods in and outside New York City…. In either case, it is doubtful that the storm will be any threat to residents of Washington, D.C.
Aug 21, 2007 - 9:40 am 2. Lem:If Obama is running for pope is good his telling us now, because I intend to vote for someone to become president of the UNITED STATES.
Amateur hour was never this long.
Aug 21, 2007 - 11:40 am 3. Steven:Perhaps she’s been watching a stand-up concert video that I saw of Rich Hall (the “sniglets” guy from SNL 20 years ago) on YouTube. He was appearing in England (he seems to be big over there), and had a bit about how England was living in a climate of fear. He said that he had gone into a sandwich shop and ordered a crab salad sandwich. The woman behind the counter said, “We’re out of crab salad [pause] I’m afraid.”
Aug 21, 2007 - 1:16 pm 4. Ken:Re: Elmer Gantry
I have been waiting for the proper public figure to start drilling into Hillary. I think we (at long last) have a winner.
There’ll be no light hearted laughing coming from Hillary on Michelle Obama’s comments. They are Hellfire missiles aimed at Hillary’s heart.
Get the popcorn ready.
Aug 21, 2007 - 1:33 pm 5. Lem:So, listen up boys.
If you have a business trip and you wont take your spouse, Mrs. Obama says you have a bad marriage.
So, cough up them frequent flyers!
Aug 21, 2007 - 1:56 pm 6. Lem:Can you imagine a republican candidates wife talking like that and the candidate not get lashed, water board, shot and then hanged by the MSM?
Aug 21, 2007 - 2:04 pm 7. David:I love the first line of the story:
“Barack Obama often says that his wife, Michelle, is smarter than he is, stronger than he is, and gives better speeches than he does.”
Frankly you would be hard pressed to find a woman in this country who isn’t smarter than him.
Aug 21, 2007 - 2:22 pm 8. Charlie (Colorado):More of this kind of wising-off and the Democrats can kiss the Clinton-Obama ticket goodbye.
breaking the hearts of Republicans all over the USA.
Aug 21, 2007 - 3:21 pm 9. Captain Hate:Maybe Michelle travels with him to make sure he doesn’t skip out on her the way Obamalama’s stand-up old man did. Whatever the reason she’s not very smart to be dropping lines like that.
Aug 21, 2007 - 3:23 pm 10. Andy Freeman:It seems like the vast majority of the politician spouses who cause political trouble are Dem spouses. The trouble usually occurs when said spouse is trying to make a political point or demonstrate political chops.
Aug 21, 2007 - 5:29 pm 11. Barry Dauphin:“Barack Obama often says that his wife, Michelle, is smarter than he is, stronger than he is, and gives better speeches than he does.”
So, why isn’t she running (unless it’s a co-presidency!). Speaking of co-presidencies, shouldn’t Hillary be disqualified due to term limits?
Actually, this kind of sniping between Dems is kinda fun. At least it keeps them from talking about the evils of bottled water.
Aug 21, 2007 - 6:34 pm 12. Lem:I’m travellin’ light
Because my man has gone
And from now on
I’m travellin’ light
If Mrs. Obama can’t trust her husband to travel now imagine if he gets air force one and a helicopter?
Aug 22, 2007 - 5:40 am 13. conefor4200:The best description of Obama: Amateur
It is charming the under-average individuals.
It was different with the irreplaceable Howard Dean.
He was innovative and intelligent.
Let us hope that John Edwards is a qualified candidate and will be elected into the Oval Office.
Aug 22, 2007 - 8:23 am 14. Lem:Apparently today is
Sarcastic Wednesday at our company.
(you have to click play)
Aug 22, 2007 - 9:49 am 15. Ray Zacek:If it’s Sarcastic Wednesday, I just want to say how impressed I am with the three leading Democratic candidates. Nothing would be better for the nation, or show such adherence to Constitutional principles, particularly the 22nd Amendment, than a Clinton restoration and a defacto co-presidency. And I do appreciate Barack Obama’s fresh approach to Presidential power, devoid of liberal cant, and not handicapped either by the detritus of experience. Of John Edwards, what can I say? The sad state of the nation cries out for a savvy trial lawyer and faux Southern populist in the White House.
Aug 22, 2007 - 10:23 am 16. The Friendly Grizzly:I don’t think this is what Mrs. Obama has in mind, but we DO live in a climate of fear. We bound from cyclamates to alar to the next ice age to global warming to satanic ritual at pre-schools to germ-laden hotel-room coffee makers to aluminum cookware causing Alzheimers. Don’t leave out deadly second hand smoke and laser printers that emit fumes that will be the death of us all.
We seem to be a society that dwells on the fashionable crisis of the day.
