I think its time that the GOP realizes that there are some Very Serious differences in the goals of the Fiscal Conservatives, the Libertarians and the Social/Christian Conservatives. To think that you&#039;ll find a candidate that meets the needs of those groups, would seem to require the rebirth of the Gipper.

I mean, seriously. In any fair world his record comes off as deeply liberal and statist. What worries me is not that his supporters don&#039;t know or care. I&#039;m hoping for that. What worries me is that these Reagan Democrats &lt;i&gt;like&lt;/i&gt; his statism, and prefer it to the real deal you get from others like Fred Thompson. They might like the idea of government as a nanny, and want it to jump in everywhere and anywhere.
