Oliver’s Back – Watch Out, Bush

Once upon a time, Oliver Stone made some pretty good movies – Midnight Express, Salvador (his best, in my estimation) – but in recent years it’s been pretty much straight bloviation. If the man only had a sense of humor… Anyway… now he’s got George W. Bush in his sights with supposed real life plot points including “his [Bush's] belief that God personally chose him to be president of the United States.” Hmm… interesting. I wonder if Stone has an proof of this or whether it’s in the realm of “LBJ killed Kennedy.” Why do I tend to think it’s the latter? (BTW, who would invest in something like this that only will be appearing after Bush leaves office anyway?)

First, I don’t think that BDS will necessarily end when Bush leaves office, I think that the demonization will continue. Secondly, as far as “his [Bush's] belief that God personally chose him to be president of the United States”, I think that if anyone has delusions of grandeur, it may well be Stone.

Yes, he’d a very talented guy, but of late he seems to be more interested in putting his political beliefs on film than making good movies. It’s a pity.

Of course Stone has proof. He smoked some weed and had a revelation. What more proof do you need.?

God, GWB has truly been blessed by the sheer stupidity and sheer ridiculosity (a new word) of his enemies. If Oliver Stone weren’t a real person, we’d have to invent him.

BDS will end as soon as he is out of office, the same way Clinton Derangement Syndrome did.

Wait, what’s that?

Sean Hannity is still doing shows questioning what happened to Vince Foster, and pimping “Hillary: The Movie”, even though by court order it is not supposed to be advertised during primary season to comply with election laws?

Woops.

Anyone who believes that there is a reason for one’s ultimate existence will believe that certain things happen by God’s choice, but also that sometimes things happen He/she doesn’t want to happen, but he/she always manages to interfere so that good comes from the bad things his creatures do against his will.

Therefore God allowed Bush to be President. He did not “chose” Bush, but 100 years from now, our history will show there was a reason that he was president, just as it will show that there was a reason that FDR won or Lincoln won– or for that matter Warren Harding won.

(IF Harding hadn’t caused a recession in 1923, Harry Truman would have stayed a haberdasher, and Israel would never have had US help to become a state).

the bad news is of course, he/she might have allowed it as a punishment for America’s sins.

“his [Bush's] belief that God personally chose him to be president of the United States.”

There is no evidence whatsoever to support this allegation. However, this is exactly the way Woodrow Wilson perceived himself! He literally thought that God predestined him to be our nation’s leader. To say the least, Wilson was a very strange man who mixed a little Hegel with his Presbyterianism. He was also a convinced racist.

“Bush says God chose him to lead his nation”

‘I feel like God wants me to run for President. I can’t explain it, but I sense my country is going to need me. Something is going to happen… I know it won’t be easy on me or my family, but God wants me to do it.’

So what? The mayor of my city,W.W.Herenton,has said on many occasions that God ordained him to be the mayor of Memphis,Tennessee…which shows me that,if nothing else,God has a rare sense of humor.
David,do you remember what WW said after seeing the film “Birth Of A Nation”? He said that it “history written with lightning…and so true!”

The skinny is that Queen Latifah is in talks with Stone to play God and She will be definitely less than supportive of George W. Bush.

Stone’s movie should actually be perfectly timed.

What, don’t tell me you all believe that line that Bushitler will “obey” the “results” of the “election” scheduled for this “November,” do you? He’ll declare martial law and suspend the Constitution in January 2009… just when Stone’s movie will do huge box office! (Don’t worry, he’ll be safely in France by then to avoid his arrest and execution for making the film.)
