Hopefully much, much more than it spent on the story to begin with. THAT is something France 2 might remember– unless it too keeps some bureaucrats employed for almost 35 hours a week.

Seeing the whole affair laid out in a long piece, as opposed to various blog posts and short news stories over the course of many years was illuminating.

Here’s to more of the “dangerous American trend of ‘vindictive pressure groups interfering with news organizations.’”

No wonder Europe is so screwed up – not like I didn’t already know – but still…

Another example of the old French Maxim: “It is better to lie than to suffer the loss of one’s reputation for honesty.” Or more bluntly, appearances always are more important than principles, the very same attitude that led to the staging of the Al Dura shooting in the first place.

That isn’t only not having to say you are sorry, it’s mass delusion. Reputation trumps actions. They have eyes but do not see. Why trust any journalism out of France? The “greater truth” is more important than getting the story right. We can understand why seeing the whole footage would be too horrible to show on the news, since it would have embarrassed the hell out of Charles Enderlin. It was the French analyst Lacan who proposed the “mirror stage”, which apparently means that the French never look in the mirror or don’t see what’s there.
