Jesse knew exactly what he was doing. He’s way too smart to make that amateur mistake. Although he’s “apologized” for it, it’s out there and it’s been said. Rather like a judge instructing a jury to disregard a witness statement. Too late. Notice the Rev only apologized for getting caught, not for what he said.

Let’s face it–if Obama weren’t black, Jackson wouldn’t have apologized at all. He’s said a lot worse (though perhaps less crudely) about many others without once showing any remorse.

What Jesse probably resents most of all is that he can’t play his white-guilt-extortion act on Obama. After all, how many dollars is he likely to squeeze out of President Obama? (I wonder…How many dollars has Rainbow/PUSH gotten from Obama, since they’re both in Chicago?)

Well, what the heck. Jackson just needs to have an in-depth prayer session with Bill Clinton, who’ll no doubt be happy to repay the favor.

Jackson’s behavior here is vile. But Obama’s lecturing people on why they must learn Spanish–which he apparently doesn’t speak himself, and ignoring the millions of immigrants who speak languages other than Spanish or English–is yet another example of his arrogant attitude, which would be called “schoolmarmish” if he were female.

Another ‘Lonesome’ Rhodes moment for Jesse. He should stage a rally against himself in a masterful display of nuance. After all, the media loves it when a democrat admits a mistake — there appears to be no higher honor.

Plus, he didn’t even make it rhyme.

Jesse Jackson no longer matters. He is only a major player in Chicago politics and he is losing influence there too. The curtain has dropped, the fat lady finished singing years ago, and Jackson has begun the slow fade into obscurity. Lets stop paying attention to him and let him retire from the public scene. Jackson apologizes, and then says a lot more stuff… The news outlets get a hot story, and Jesse gets the microphone. All this illustrates the intensity of the interplay within the black community; which underscores the importance of ‘this moment’ in civil rights history. His human nature betrays his righteous indignation (it’s understandable.) Obama looks like he is making big and expensive compromises. Jesse looks like the champion of the black community.

I doubt it was a mistake.

Rev. Jesse was a secondary player in the Don Imus snafu. If you remember Rev Al took the lead on that one.
This apparent dissent could have the effect of restoring his bonafide as ‘the’ black leader in spite of Obama having the nomination. A declaration of independence.

Obama gave him an opening and Jesse took it. Maybe Rev Jesse resented not getting a heads up on Obama’s “talking down to black people” speech. Who knows?

BTW – did you all notice how the main proponent of the change to “african american” does not use it himself.

Also, I don’t recall Rev Jesse getting upset with Bill Cosby for essentially the same message Obama had on one speech. Bill Cosby has been (I don’t think I’m exagerating) on a crusade about absent black fathers for years.

To the contrary, I did a little search and found Jesse defending Cosby because, according to the reverend “Cosby has paid his dues. He has earned the privilege of having and expressing an opinion about the plight of Africans in America.”

He complained that Obama talks down to Black people. It’s been noted that Obama talks down to all sorts of different groupings and classifications of Americans, with the exception (so far) of ninny-nanny-state elitist pricks like himself.

Why the hell should this incident be a “Sistah Soljah” moment for Obama? Why are Obama opponents so stupid that they can’t exploit the Jesse Jackson incident as another weapon against Obama? Do you really think that Jackson was only speaking for himself? Has it not occurred to anyone that all sorts of people have noticed what an insufferably superior attitude BOTH Obamas have? Do you not notice that many African-Americans may be turned off by this elitism as well, and hence be a source of the resentment expressed by Jesse Jackson? Jackson was pretty dammed pissed, and NOT just for himself as so many deluded fools seem to think. He apparently (at least to me, who is paying attention) is speaking for many.
