How much to run it in prime time for the next 6 weeks in the 15 swing states???????

The McCain people are creating some very good ads. This particular one should prove to be very effective.

Love the Hillary bit at the end!

The very best political ad I’ve seen since Reagan’s ‘Morning in America’ and Johnson’s girl picking flowers. Americans LOVE a ‘maverick,’ and using Dems to make the point about McCain is brilliant. Closing with humor is a master-stroke, worthy of the skillful use of political humor by Reagan and Kennedy.
Forget about energy policy; THIS ad shows that finally someone in the McCain camp knows how to win elections. Obama is a champ at the preacher’s inspiring sermon devoid of policy content; this ad trumps Obama’s no-content message. Just brilliant!

Great ad.

Next ad could be clips of all the talking heads from the talk shows sharing their love for McCain back in the day. And somewhere along the line ads should show the contrast between what they said then and what they say now. It would be good if the ads have a plan and not simply be one-offs.

Other than seeing Howard Dean made me vomit in my mouth, a very good ad.

NOW we are getting some McCain ads that are powerful. And this one does have a sly sense of humor…love it! Ads don’t have to have contrast to make sense to the general public. They get it.

It’s really quite good. The risk I see is that it’s hard to both discredit Democrats as being out of touch and then quote them supporting your guy. Which part are they wrong about?

Nonetheless, it supports I point I make often, which is that your opponents’ own words can be your best weapons.

No, seeing who they have on here praising McCain, this may as well be an Obama ad.

Aug 8, 2008 - 7:25 am 11. LSD:

It’s interesting. I found myself wondering if it was pro-McCain; It doesn’t help him on the right, but maybe the middle is wide open for him rather than Obama since he’s always been there, while in contrast Obama looks like he’s compromising to get there. McCain can appeal to the middle without turning his back on anyone.

McCain may have this one. Because of his age, his choice of running mate will have bigger impact, though.

Aug 8, 2008 - 7:27 am 12. Richard Nieporent:

Some people are missing the point of this ad. The purpose of this ad is not to get Democrats to vote for him, but to shield him from attacks by Democrats. In other words, if these Democrats now attack him then they are seen as liars and hypocrites.

“And Senator Obama has a speech he gave in 2002.”

Yowza! Bet that left a mark! ;-p

Aug 8, 2008 - 12:19 pm 14. California Dreamer:

I suppose Hillary regrets the kind words now that she is back on the ballot. Denver hasn’t seen this kind of a finish since Ken Stabler led the Raiders into Bronco territory…and won!

That was an awesome defensive ad for McCain. Conservatives hate McCain. He knows it… No love lost there.

On the other side – Why not just press on with celebrity? BHO doesn’t have any experience – Fine – Keep hammering the coolness factor to the point of satire. It would be OK.
