What the heck is, “I don’t know if it’s conscious or unconscious, but it sure seems that way.”, supposed to mean? If it’s a riff of the title shouldn’t there be an ellipsis or something?

To be fair, is it possible that Biden meant to refer to another market crash happeneing on FDR’s watch? His quote doesn’t specifically mention “the 1929 crash.”

I know, television didn’t really take off until the early 1950s, and what experimental broadcasting existed before then came to a sudden halt with the start of WWII. But it’s a theory…

Think of Biden as a jacketed usher in a grand hall with Obama in tow, and his gaffes make sense.

Lately, I’ve been thinking that Obama’s candidacy is a sham one. The Democrats know that the Chicago wing of their party is rotten, and they needed to find a way to exorcise it from their party this year.

What better way than to give it a pretend leadership role this election, lose it (with Biden’s help), then, with the Chicago element sidelined, run a more centrist candidate in 2012?

The Dem’s can credibly maintain that they fielded the “Black Liberation” candidate, in the process retaining the urban black votes they’ll need in 2012, and yet, they can still usher the gang that brought us “Election 2000″ out the door.

This idea also explains the media’s recruitment to project Obama’s mien to the public. It’s all for show.

Iago’s observation is probably accurate. Frankly, no one knows the behind the scenes action concerning Hillary and the VP nomination. Maybe Hillary actually turned down an offer. But let’s explore some scenarios with Hillary replacing Biden. Obama wins. His first term is positive: Hillary remains as VP into second term. By 2016 she is in her late sixties. It is likely that the novelty of women candidates for Pres/VP has worn off; plus, she’s now OLD. His first term is negative: Hillary’s VP term ends in 2012; the Repub is elected and, possibly serves two terms. Hillary in 2020! Puhleeze. McCain wins. Only under this scenario does Hillary have a realistic chance to gain the presidency in 2012. Say this financial instability drags on AND the markets and public finally wakes up to the $53 trillion entitlement debt tsunami as the tax/FICA revenue shortfall is revealed (amongst other negative possibilities), Hillary might make it a race. No, even if Obama begged her, her best bet is to stay on the sidelines, work surreptitiously for an Obama defeat (as that would discredit the hard left nutroot core of this campaign which was supposed to be a lock), and get prepped for the 2012 run.
