The Coen Brothers – Right or wrong?

Lionel Chetwynd and I have a mild difference of opinion about the Coen Brothers’ new movie Burn After Reading on this week’s Poliwood.  (He’s more positive than I am.)  Please leave any suggestions for future shows here.  We’re anxious to hear your thoughts on what we should gab about.

Mr. Simon,

I have enjoyed the Poliwood segments and have really enjoyed your co-host incorporating in his analysis the history of cinema (movies). I have a much higher desire to see the Canadian films that were mentioned in this latest installment than the Burn After Reading movie (which I have not seen). Though I am sure it is the Coen movie that I will have easy access to.

And any coverage you all can give to foreign films that are worthwhile, that regular ol’ folks who live in flyover country can gain access to would be of interest.

Recommendations from sources that are trusted carry weight. I trust not ONE source from the Hollywood establishment. But I like you codgers. I have read you off and on for 4 years. I was unfamiliar with Mr. Chetwynd, but it is glaringly apparent that he is steeped in cinema knowledge and lore. Frankly, I’m tuning in looking for recommendations.

And yes, I did find The Lives of Others mentioned a couple of episodes back. Thoroughly enjoyed.

There is a town called “Chetwynd” in north eastern British Columbia. It USED to be “Little Prairie” (I think)

Any connection with your ex Canadian friend, Lionel?

Also, the mystery of your falling in love with Seven Samurai. It’s a matter of viscera. For equally mysterious reasons, I completely love Dark Ages history and artwork.
