I'm up for a little nitpicking fun. What was with that thin little mustache our narcissist-in-chief was sporting in Egypt? The picture on Drudge showed it quite clearly. Is that some other little taqqiya-style symbol? Should we expect it to reappear on his next apology tour?

"Look at you all…hating on your own country and your own democratically elected leader.

Hypocrites.Traitors.

Mass hysteria. Seriously, you are an embarassment to America the way Al-Qaeda represents Islam"

You don't speak for me. And I don't hate the president, I hate his policies -- so please savor the nuance, will you? Eight years of "hating on" Bush, the military, flag, and country, and now the left wants to turn on a dime and claim some twisted vision of the patriotic high ground? As John Wayne would say, things are getting to be ri-goddamn-diculous.

As far as your last line, I can't tell you how often I turn on the TV, or get on the internet and see muslims apologizing in profound embarrassment for the actions of all the non-"moderate" types in their midst. Just tripping all over themselves in shame. Oh, the guilt!

Mr. Simon,
Thanks for the article and I agree with it. I do not understand why he is gallivanting around the middle east when he should be at home taking care of all of our problems here at home. He is nothing but an actor to me, and I stay so upset with my own government. How dare him call us a Muslim Country, to me it is a bald-faced lie, and he is nothing but a liar.

I am upset, because the Democrats in our state continue to blame our state government, but it is not our Republicans fault, it is the fault of the Socialist that are in control of our government.

Texas does not beg this is true. There is a story of two hurricanes that should make national news; it should be a focus of the MSM. Galveston Texas had a horrific hurricane last year, it destroyed the whole Island and months after the hurricane we went there and it was still terrible, it was so awful that I cried. I brought my camera and thought I would take pictures the day we went, but I could not take pictures of these people working to clean their island. My heart was hurting, because I spent my summers there and it was gone. Everything was gone.

Governor Perry is a good governor in my opinion. He has worked diligently to help these people, and it cannot be easy, because the government does not help him, this is my opinion only, but I feel it is true. The government has not helped Galveston Texas as they did New Orleans. They are still spending money on debris three and half years after hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, but have all but cut off money to clean the debris on Galveston Island after hurricane Ike destroyed the island.

Three and half years ago, Texas took more New Orleans residents in and housed them than any other state. Texas helped them. Governor Perry helped them, and our state opened our hearts and our wallets to them.

It has been one year after hurricane Ike and Galveston is still trying to get back to normal, and it is still terrible, many of the beaches washed away from the storm, debris of demolished homes still lying around everywhere. I have not been there since I cried standing there, but I have seen pictures of the devastation of Galveston Island.

Three and half years after hurricane Katrina they still have housing for their people, but not a year after Ike, not in Galveston. Why is this, could it be because we are a red state? Could it be because the president does not think Texas should have the same treatment he continues to give Louisiana?

Three and half years after Katrina they are still getting paid housing, but not Texans, and I feel Texas is not being treated fairly by the Government and I do not understand, if someone can explain this to me I would appreciate an explanation.

What gives, is it because the media dwells on Katrina, but they are pretending Ike never happened?

Is it because actors as Pit has decided to fight for them, but nobody but Texans care what happens to Galveston Island?

I feel like writing it here, because I feel Galveston Island is not getting the preferential treatment that New Orleans has received, though I cannot understand why.

Where is the president? Well he is gallivanting around the ME, and getting praise for what?

They ignore Galveston Island, and I feel they are playing politics as usual. I blame the government, not our Governor; I blame the Democrats in control, not our Republicans running our state.

I know I should not hate, but I hate the main stream media. He is off gallivanting with the enemy instead of helping his country, and I am completely convinced he is a saboteur.

The saboteur should come home and help his own country and stop rubbing elbows with the enemy.

NC Mountain Girl:
I am amazed when liberal friends say they admire Obama’s intellect. He has the intellectual curiosity of a turnip.

And the intellectual rigor of a rotten tomato. It's full to bursting, but when it does, there's nothing solid and everything rancid.

Tom J, in other words: "Roger is wrong to say being #38 isn't 'one of the largest' because I've got another source that says we're #41." Eh?

ZZMike nails the real issue. The question isn't one of mathematics or rankings, but one of character. Pres. Obama didn't say the US had one of the largest Muslim populations in the world (a questionable statement itself, but let's leave that alone for now), he said the US is one of the largest "Muslim countries." There are more Chinese people in the US than Muslims, but noone would say we were a "Chinese country." Ascribing an adjective to the country implies something about the nature of the country. A "Muslim country" is one which espouses, practices and believes in Islam, a descriptor that may be accurate in describing Egypt, KSA, Iraq, Iran, Syria, etc. but in no way describes the US on a whole.

As to questions about what he meant, I honestly don't think he meant anything, it was just a string of words he or his writers thought sounded good to say "we like Muslims and want to be your friends; see, we're just like you." Their accuracy or propriety were of no concern at all. But why should we complain, after all noone was expected to really beleieve there actually was a good Sameritan when Jesus told his story either.
