"We will only learn that soon after his inauguration"

Barack Obama's inauguration? Let's drop a chill pill. This election is not over. John McCain can still pull this out.

"Ross is now there to reassure Florida’s Jews about Obama’s love for Israel and shore up their vote."

I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Dennis Ross undoubtably has the best intentions. Nonetheless, that's simply not enough. The dude's head is not on straight. He unwittingly is responsible for the murders of countless Israelis. Is this naive guy really endorsing Obama? If so, American Jews should be voting for John McCain in this election!

Ron, who knows? The point I return to each and every time, is that it was the duty of our information stream...who hold a quasi-public trust..to ask.

They have not. They have shirked their responsibility to this nation. Worse, they have been part and parcel of an active coverup, a conspiracy of silence and misdirection.

To me, this is the greater sin. Senator Obama can be anything he wants to be and run for any office for which he has the appropriate credentials, he can espouse any view and can hold dear any ideals.

We, however, are entitled to know what those are. And not just from the mouths of the candidate, any candidate...not just Senator Obama.

When we are denied facts, when we are handed propaganda, half-truths, distortions and lies by the entrusted guardians of our information, we have stolen from us the ability to self-govern this land of ours.

Senator Obama has not been pressed to define or distinguish the ideologies he has encountered along the way, how they influenced him and precisely where he parts company with them.

This discussion would be fruitful for everyone, most especially Senator Obama, if he indeed seeks to drift significantly more toward the center. In the absence of such dialogue, in the void left in the wake of the conspiracy of silence, one simply cannot make the argument that there is any such drift.

Nothing can grow in that vacuum, least of all an attribution of intent that has not a shred of prior history to support it. Stanley Kurtz is absolutely right on the money once again. This is not about some "gotcha" moment of attachment to bogeyman words, it is an attempt to fill a gaping hole in the belief system and worldview of a candiate for President of the United States.

He has never been given the opportunity to respond and clarify and he has chosen, for whatever reason, not to volunteer information that addresses these issues.

The Obama/Biden ticket has shown no interest in resolving this black hole. Very few questions go in and absolutely nothing comes back out. We are left to assume. That's unfortunate and that's unfair. To everyone.

i agree; it's hard to tell which obama will show up. his past is clear, from his mother to ayers, but who knows? perhaps he'll be overwhelmed by the grace of the office and his better intentions will predominate. i doubt it, but who knows.

i'm more concerned about the massive subversion that an obama presidency will bring about in the "permanent government," among other aspects of US institutional life. not that various degrees of subversion haven't already been routinized, but imagine what a chief executive obama will allow to occur simply as repayment for prior support. he could even continually denounce them, sincerely or otherwise, and yet federal employment law would virtually prohibit their ouster once they were in there. this could have devestating long-term effects - like termites through the first crack in the foundation that you don't notice until your dining room caves in.
