The trouble, Ron, is that the pace of the mullah’s nuclear program probably doesn’t afford Israel all the time Obama demands.
And why, given that negotiations have gone on for years now and lavish incentives offered, incentives endorsed by Bush, is Obama unable to judge the seriousness of the Iranians within a handful of meetings?
Anyway, serious sanctions have always come to nothing. Not only Russia and China, but the Europeans will insist on a sanctions process so slow and feeble that Iran will have all the time it needs to join the nuclear club. If he wants political cover for an attack- which nobody really thinks he’s contemplating- let him condense the process so as not to give Iran crucial time to go nuclear.

Obama talks a lot and really says nothing. I want someone that says what they mean and mean what the hell they say, and says it quickly without me having to hear endless words strung together or seeing you on television or in the printed media…this is old already!

Panetta tells Israel, lay off Iran’s nukeworks, Biden tells Israel, lay off Iran’s nukeworks. Clinton tells Israel, lay off Iran’s nukeworks. Rahm Emanuel says forget Iran and tend to the peace process. Rashid Khalidi, Stephanie Power, Susan Rice etc., are more solicitous: they advise Israel to roll over and drop dead.

Obama, on the other hand, says this, and says that, you never can tell what he means.

Since the honourable and gallant neocomrade fails to say it THREE times, I suppose it ain’t *absolutely* necessarily true, but the customer does get

(1) “to accept Israel as a Jewish State, THE WAY IT WAS CONCEIVED by the U.S. and the U.N. at its founding,” and

(2) “[natives and non-Zionist locals] must accept Israel as a Jewish State, EXACTLY AS IT WAS CREATED in 1948?”

The difficulty is that our weekly standardisers and common terrorisers and their Tel Avîv pols of the last decade or so seem to spend a great deal more time and energy demandin’ recognition-as-Jewish than anybody did sixty years ago. Anybody that I happen to know of, that is.

So, then, could we perhaps have a few chapters and verses about the exact conceptions of 1948?

“Let us hope that he means it.”

Barack Obama may consciously mean it. But so what? On a gut level, he is hostile towards those deemed to be white imperialists. The Palestinians are perceived as dark skinned victims. Obama, in his heart of hearts, believes that Israeli appeasement will make things better for everyone. The heck also with this “meaning well” stuff. Does the individual have their head on straight? That’s the far more important question?
