It's bothered me for some time that commentators, politicians, and pundits haven't been able to tag the current conflict with a suitable name. "The War on Terror" doesn't cut it. You can't declare war on a tactic. I was leafing through a 1956 copy of LIFE magazine about the Hungarian Uprising when it hit me. "Eureka!" Had I been in a tub, I would have cleared the water, the gunnels, and the roof of my modest abode. It's the "War for Civilization". That's what we're fighting. Clarity came to me in an instant. Or if you're on the other side: "The War Against Civilizaiton." Same thing. The tag is accurate. It defines precisely the stakes. It's time we renamed this conflict. It's time for clarity. Set things straight.

Sad isn't it? I never thought Rush was fired for racially-charged comments, exactly: I thought he was fired because he accused the networks of racism. One thing you can't do in modern public discourse and be taken seriously: accuse our nation's media of being anything other than completely unbiased and fair to a fault.

My jaw dropped when reading your accounts of various run-ins with illegals--not because I doubt the veracity of what you have to say, nor even because we seem to have reached the "tipping point" on this problem (let's hope we have anyway!)....no, it was the thought of you having to make a citizen's arrest on not one but two occasions!

Forgive me, but I'm just trying to picture that--and wondering if you were as calm and cool-headed as you are with the folks you debate (Arianna Huffington, etc)?

Here's hoping that Zeus Hikesios protects you from further damage from the suppliants and foreigners who arrive (suddenly or otherwise) at your door. Be safe and be well.

Illegal aliens and crashes - Living within view of the hills of Mexico as I do might seem exotic to some, however the near daily frequency of these car crashes, high-speed chases, even child molestations connected to identified criminal elements in the illegal alien population in San Diego County has become frightening. Yet the illegals and their apologists will openly demonstrate for an end to ICE raids or arrests of anyone that wasn't specifically targeted in a search. How can we fight back against those who may choose to continue living in the shadows even if/when given the opportunity to step forward, those who complain that the processes being proposed for legitimizing their chosen lifestyle are too daunting or expensive? If the outlook of the physical dangers of crossing the border or putting themselves at risk from smugglers wasn't a deterrent, can paperwork and refraining from sending the bulk of their earnings "home" to Mexico really be the cause for all this whining? Perhaps there are some broader ideas behind the resistance, like keeping those funds flowing freely to the Mexican underclass and preventing any equalization of opportunity between the Californias on each side of the border.

Preach on Brother. You speak the truth. As a Southern California child of the 70s, I am saddened my home state has been ruined by illegal aliens and that too many of us had to move to live a reasonable lifestyle. I feel sorry for my kids that they dont get to experience the great childhood and home we once knew that no longer exists.

VDH asks will anything be done about this plague of traffic and other crime committed by illegal aliens.

Well, something BETTER be done or we can just kiss our culture goodbye.

The damage to Professor Hanson's personal property by the lawless and uninsured only raises insurance rates and prices for the law-abiding.

If we don't have the rule of law in the United States, then we have nothing.

I heard a recent report about a Mexican city where the police were beheaded by the criminals.

It is simply beyond my comprehension that we've allowed this to happen. At least stop the bleeding by building a real fence and securing the border.
