It occurs to me that most of the Colonists didn't really begin to get fed up with mother England until the Stamp Tax. Could this be Barry's "Stamp Tax?" Come up with enough niggling little things that hits a voter every single day, and you'll piss them off. On the other hand, considering his Chicago background, I don't think that's something he understands, since up there once you're in, you're in forever, pretty much.
