Ed Morrissey on President Obama’s poll problem:
The demographics of his decline portend more bad news for Obama and his Democratic allies in Congress. Only the youngest voters support him on fiscal policy, and only barely, 52%-46%. Every other age demographic above 30 years of age has majorities now showing disapproval. Independents have begun to run away in massive numbers; they now oppose him 75%-23%, a huge break away from Obama and a sign that his supposed moderate stances have been exposed as shams. Every income level except the lowest also has majorities disapproving of his handling of the economy. Voters outside the “political class” oppose Obama 65%-33%.
Fact of the matter is, a majority of young people almost always support Democratic spending plans. The other fact of the matter is, most young people are idiots.

Jul 3, 2009 - 12:32 pm 4. McGehee:What I’m hoping is that the same counter-factual view of the situation that has governed media coverage of Obama since he started running for the Senate, continues to hold sway over Democrats. Thus they will dutifully try to ride coattails that do not exist, essentially slitting their throats electorally rather than acknowledge the true state of affairs for their party and the nation.
American politics needs a good (figurative) bloodbath and I hope the Democrats volunteer

The big difference is that some of us outgrow it prior to reaching voting age…
Jul 5, 2009 - 12:20 am 10. Athena:How about a law requiring that only those who pay taxes can vote? This should undercut the demo’s by millions….
