When I lived in N.O., we were told the worst track came from the East of New Orleans, pushing water into the Lake, which would overflow the levies. Certainly the track places New Orleans on the strong side of the storm, but it’s not clear that this path is the one that stresses the city’s vulnerabilities.

Rain from the outer bands just started at 6:30 PM CDT. I live 35 miles north of New Orleans.

Looks like it won’t be more than Cat 3. The main problem for New Orleans should be rain.

It is unlikely the surge will get past the Industrial Canal but New Orleans East, the Lower 9 and St. Bernard Parish could get flooding from a surge.

Hopefully not!
